Down the TBR Hole #3

Down the TBR Hole

Down the TBR Hole was created by Lia @ Lost in a Story with a goal of trying to reduce the size of your Goodreads TBR. Each time (aka each blog post) you:

  • Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf
  • Sort it by ascended date added
  • Pick the first 5 (or 10) books
  • Read the synopses of these books
  • Decide if you want to keep the books on your TBR or if they should go

It’s up to you how often you participate in this meme. Personally, I try (emphasis on the word “try”) to take part once a week. If you need more information on Down the TBR Hole, click here to go to Lia’s blog post.

The Books:

1. The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss

The Name of the Wind

At first I wasn’t sure what to do about this book. It’s been on my TBR for a long time now and while my library has a copy of it, I’ve never really felt the inclination to check it out. However, I was looking at the book’s Goodreads page and a lot of my Goodreads friends rated it 5 stars. So, for now it’s going to stay on my never-ending TBR. I hope I’m eventually able to get around to reading it one day!

Verdict: Staying

2. Nocte by Courtney Cole

Nocte

I saw this book on my list and I’ll be honest, I barely even remember adding it to my TBR. However, according to Goodreads I did add it on May 15, 2015. So since I obviously don’t really remember why I even added the book to my TBR in the first place and since my library doesn’t have a copy of the book (I’d have to buy it if I wanted to read it), I’m going to be removing Nocte from my TBR. Let me know if this is a mistake down in the comments!

Verdict: Going

3. Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys

Between Shades of Gray

I have 3 books by Ruta Sepetys both on my Goodreads TBR and my physical TBR, but I still have yet to read a book by her. I’ve heard such great things about Ruta’s books so I have no idea why I haven’t picked one up yet. I definitely should soon!

Verdict: Staying

4. Riders by Veronica Rossi

Riders

I haven’t heard too many people talking about this book but, for some reason, I’m not ready to take it off my TBR just yet. It sounds really interesting!

Verdict: Staying

5. This Monstrous Thing by Mackenzi Lee

This Monstrous Thing

Earlier this year, I read Mackenzi Lee’s second novel, The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue, and I really enjoyed it! I really want to read this book as well and since I’ve owned it for quite some time now, I really have no excuse as to why I haven’t read it yet (except for the billions of other books I want to read.)

Verdict: Staying

6. Blood, Ink & Fire by Ashley Mansour

Blood, Ink & Fire

This is another book I barely remember adding to my TBR. That coupled with the fact that this book is a dystopian novel (which I don’t really care to read anymore) and that the library doesn’t have a copy makes me come to the decision to remove Blood, Ink & Fire from my TBR.

Verdict: Going

7. Scion of the Sun by Nicola Marsh

Scion of the Sun

Same thing as before. Barely remember adding it + library doesn’t have a copy = me losing interest.

Verdict: Going

8. Touch by Claire North

Touch

Again, with this book I don’t really remember adding it! And again, my library doesn’t have a copy. So I’m just going to do what I did with the previous books and remove Touch from my TBR.

Verdict: Going

9. The Demigod Diaries by Rick Riordan

The Demigod Diaries

I will pretty much read anything Rick Riordan writes so I know I’m going to read this companion story eventually!

Verdict: Staying

10. Percy Jackson’s Greek Heroes by Rick Riordan

Percy Jackson's Greek Heroes

Same as above! I read and enjoyed Rick’s other companion book, Percy Jackson’s Greek Gods, so I’m sure I will enjoy this book too!!

Verdict: Staying

I did pretty good this week! I ended up removing 4 books from my TBR. Nice! Do you participate in Down the TBR Hole? Let me know in the comments below and leave a link to your post for this week if you’d like!
