It's Monday What Are You Reading

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Book Journey where you share what you read in the past week, what you hope to read this week, and anything else in between! I missed posting last week, so this post will feature books from the last two weeks.

Between March 7th and March 14th, I completed the following books:

Untitled

During this week I finished my reread of Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda that I started last month. I loved this book just as much as I did the first time! What I liked most was seeing Simon’s interactions with the person who turns out to be Blue. It was even better this time around since I knew that person was Blue! As for The Third Twin, I didn’t like it nearly as much as I thought I would. The plot sounded really intriguing but unfortunately, I ended up being really disappointed by the book. It wasn’t as creepy as I thought it was going to be and the characters were really lacking. I think that YA mystery/thriller books are hit or miss for me.

Between March 14th and now, I’ve completed:

More Happy Than Not

This past week was pretty hectic because I got sick with a cold on top of trying to finish up some things for school before spring break. That being said, I was only able to finish one book this week. I definitely have mixed feelings about More Happy Than Not. While I enjoyed some things, I disliked others. To find out more of my thoughts, check out my review.

This past week, I started but didn’t finish:

The Rithmatist

I started reading The Rithmatist around the same time as I started More Happy Than Not. However, I was only able to finish More Happy Than Not this week. I read 165 pages of The Rithmatist and I’m enjoying it so far! The magic system is unique and I’m interested in learning more about the world. I’m definitely planning on finishing this book soon!

What I want to read next:

Untitled2

These two are very high on my TBR, so after I finish The Rithmatist, I would really like to start one (or both) of these! I really enjoyed A Darker Shade of Magic when I read it in January so I’m looking forward to seeing where things go in the sequel. As for A Tyranny of Petticoats, I’ve been highly anticipating this book for a few months now and now that I finally own it, I can’t wait to dive in!

It's Monday What Are You Reading

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Book Journey where you share what you read in the past week, what you hope to read this week, and anything else in between! I haven’t participated in this meme since October, so I thought it was about time to make a post again. Enjoy!

Between Monday, February 29th and now, I’ve completed the following books:

IMWAYR 1

This was actually the second time I’ve read Night Film and I still really enjoyed it! I had forgotten a lot of details from the book since it had been so long since I first read it, so it was great to read it again! I highly recommend it to those who are fans of mystery novels. I also finished This Is Where It Ends and unfortunately, I didn’t like it as much as I thought I was going to. I picked up the book because it sounded like it was going to be intense and emotional, but it really lacked in both departments. I didn’t connect with the characters and I felt like the plot was really lacking.

This past week I also read the following novella:

The Crown and the Arrow

  • The Crown and the Arrow by Renée Ahdieh (The Wrath and the Dawn #0.5)

This novella was extremely short (9 pages) so we didn’t get a lot out of it. I liked being inside Khalid’s head and it definitely made me want to reread The Wrath and the Dawn, but other than that, I don’t think the novella added anything special to the series.

This past week I continued reading but didn’t finish:

Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda

I started my reread of this book last month, but because I’ve been sick, I’ve only read up to page 120. I managed to read 35 pages of it this week and I’m really hoping to finish it soon!

This past week I DNF’d:

The Adoration of Jenna Fox

I randomly picked up this book while at the library because I love Mary E. Pearson’s The Remnant Chronicles series. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get into this book. I found the writing to be extremely choppy and nothing like what I remember from Pearson’s other novels. Also, the characters and plot weren’t pulling me in. I considered pushing through and finishing it because the book itself isn’t that long, but in the end I just had to DNF it.

What I want to read next:

Other than finishing Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, I’m not sure what I’m going to read next. I have several books checked out from the library and a few coming in the mail tomorrow, but I’m not sure what I’m in the mood for. Also, I’ve been sick for a month now with vertigo and headaches which makes reading hard. I hope to get back to normal soon!

What book(s) have you finished this past week? Did you enjoy them? What do you plan on reading next? Let me know down in the comments!

It's Monday What Are You Reading

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Book Journey where you share what you read in the past week, what you hope to read this week, and anything else in between!

Between Monday, October 19th and now, I’ve completed the following books:

Last 3 reads (50)

  • The Throne of Fire by Rick Riordan (Kane Chronicles #2) – 4.5 stars
  • Alive by Scott Sigler (The Generations Trilogy #1) – 3.5 stars
  • Illuminae by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff (The Illuminae Files #1) – 5 stars

I’m extremely happy with what I was able to read this week. 3 books might not seem like much but it’s actually all I read in the entire month of September. So reading that amount in a week is a huge success for me.

What I want to read next:

IMWYR1

There are so many books I want to read right now, but I narrowed it down to these three. I have The Accident Season and Shadow and Bone out from the library so I would like to read them both before they’re due back. I’m really excited to finally start the Grisha trilogy! As for The Serpent’s Shadow, I would love to finish up the Kane Chronicles very soon. I need to know how it ends!

Between Monday, August 10 and now, I’ve completed the following:

Origin

  • Origin by Jessica Khoury – 2.5 or 3 stars

After reading 5 books last week for Booktube-A-Thon, I decided to take it easy this week so that’s why I ended up only finishing one book. I would have liked to finish at least one more but that’s okay! This coming week and the next will be busy ones for me so I hope I’m able to get a good amount of reading done!

I started but didn’t finish:

Crown of Midnight

I started this one really late on Sunday night so I’m not that far into the book yet; I believe I’m on page 45 or so. I’m going to be continuing it today. I’m really looking forward to seeing what happens next in the series!

What I want to read next:

It's Monday 8

These two books are ones that I really want to get to before the end of the month. I received Sacrificed for review and the synopsis sounds super intriguing. I’m looking forward to reading it! As for Heir of Fire, I plan on reading it sometime after finishing Crown of Midnight. I need to be caught up with the series by the time the fourth book comes out on September 1st!

It's Monday What Are You Reading

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Book Journey where you share what you read in the past week, what you hope to read this week, and anything else in between! Since I missed last week, this post will discuss what I read in the last two weeks.

Between Monday, July 27th and Monday, August 3rd I completed the following books:

Last 3 reads (35)

  • Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas – 4/5 stars
  • The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender by Leslye Walton – 3/5 stars
  • The Iron Trial by Holly Black & Cassandra Clare – 4/5 stars

I usually only read 2 books a week so I was super glad I was able to finish 3! Throne of Glass was a reread for me and I enjoyed it as much as I did the first time around. I’m looking forward to reading books 2 and 3 hopefully this month before book 4 comes out in September! The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender was definitely very strange. I’m not quite sure how I felt about the book so that’s why I gave it a rating that’s somewhere in the middle. The Iron Trial was surprisingly really good! I’d been hearing not-so-great things about it – mostly people saying it was a Harry Potter copy cat. While there were some similarities, I don’t think the two novels have that much in common. I really enjoyed the plot and the characters are ones I think I can come to love. I’m looking forward to the sequel’s release in September!

Between Monday, August 3rd and now, I’ve completed the following books:

BTAT Wrap Up

This past week was Booktube-A-Thon and I ended up reading a lot of books! I’m so proud of myself for reading as much as I did. For more on the books I read check out my read-a-thon wrap up here and my daily updates here.

What I want to read next:

I have numerous books checked out from the library plus I really want to read Crown of Midnight and Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas before Queen of Shadows is released on September 1st. I also have a book for review that I need to get to soon. That being said, I’m not quite sure what I’ll be reading next!

It's Monday What Are You Reading

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Book Journey where you share what you read in the past week, what you hope to read this week, and anything else in between!

Between Monday, July 20th and now, I’ve completed the following books:

It's Monday 5

Even though I was reading other books in addition to these graphic novels, these two were the only ones I was able to finish. I really hope to do better this week since I’m participating in the #TBRTakedown read-a-thon!

I didn’t quite finish:

It's Monday 6

I came really close to finishing my reread of Throne of Glass, but didn’t quite make it. I’m currently on page 325 out of 404 so only 79 more pages to go! As for Blue Smoke, I might be putting it on hold for now and coming back to it at a later time. I haven’t picked it up since Wednesday and there are other books I would like to focus on first.

What I want to read next:

It's Monday 7

These books are on my TBR for the #TBRTakedown read-a-thon. Since I most likely won’t be able to finish them all by the time the read-a-thon ends (which is Friday), I hope to finish at least 2 and get started on a third.

Between Monday, July 13th and now, I’ve completed the following books:

It's Monday 3

Even though I was sick this week, I still managed to complete two books. Yay for me! Harry Potter was a reread and it was just as great as the first time I read it.

I started but didn’t finish:

It's Monday 4

Blue Smoke is one of my mom’s favorite books so I decided to start it this week. My mom decided that she wanted to have a little readalong with me and reread the book, which is fun! However, she reads slower than I do and we want to discuss as we go, so I started reading Throne of Glass while I waited for her to catch up to me. Throne of Glass is actually a reread for me – I want to continue on with the series, but I can’t remember anything from the first book!

What I want to read next:

Crown of Midnight

After I finish the books I’m currently reading, I’m not sure what I’ll read next. I might read Crown of Midnight (the second book in the Throne of Glass series) or I might read one of the books I have out from the library. I’ll have to see what I’m in the mood for!

Between Monday, June 6th and now, I’ve completed the following:

The Martian

I’m so disappointed that I was only able to finish one book this week. I usually get through at least two a week so it was quite a let down that I could only finish one. While reading The Martian, I was also reading (well, rereading) another book – one that I couldn’t finish before the week was up. For more on that book, see below!

I didn’t quite finish:

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

I started reading this book (for the third time) on July 4th and I continued reading it this past week. Since I have only been reading it here and there, I’m only on page 280. I plan on finishing it either tonight or tomorrow so I can move on to other books!

What I want to read next:

It's Monday 2

I bought Every Last Word the other day and it’s a book I’ve been wanting to read for a little while now, so I’m pretty sure I’ll read it after I finish Harry Potter. After that, I would like to get to And the Mountains Echoed because it’s due back to the library next week. As for the remaining two books, I just got them from the library today so I may or may not be reading them this week.

Between Monday, June 29th and now, I’ve completed the following books:

It's Monday

As you can see, I only managed to read 2 books this week. I usually read 3 books so I’m a bit disappointed. Hopefully this coming week, I’ll read more!

I started but didn’t finish:

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

I decided to pick this book up earlier in the week when I was having trouble getting into A Court of Thorns and Roses. I only read around 80 pages though because I started enjoying ACOTAR and couldn’t put it down! I may or may not finish reading this book this week. Since I’ve read it twice before, I’m not in a big hurry. I might just read a chapter or two here and there.

What I want to read next:

question mark

I have absolutely no clue what I want to read next. I have some books checked out from the library and some books that I own sitting on my shelf but I don’t know what I’m going to read! Any recommendations would be highly appreciated.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Book Journey where you share what you read in the past week, what you hope to read this week, and anything else in between!

Between Monday, June 22nd and now, I’ve completed the following books:

Last 3 reads (26)

3 books this week again! Not bad at all. Of course, I wish I could read more, but I’m not complaining. My favorite this week would have to be The Kite Runner. I normally don’t read historical fiction, but I ended up loving this particular book! The story was so heartbreaking and it truly came full circle. I also enjoyed A Book of Spirits and Thieves. It’s the first book in the spin-off series of The Falling Kingdoms series. Since I couldn’t read the next book in that series, this was the next best thing. A Book of Spirits and Thieves was a wonderful first book in the trilogy and I can’t wait to see where Morgan Rhodes takes it next!

What I want to read next:

It's Monday 6

Since I loved The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, I want to read his other books. I’m going to the library today to pick them up! Also, I would like to read Written in the Stars and Snow Like Ashes before I have to return to them to the library.
